Jamie Robertson is a TV presenter with over 25 years of experience working for the BBC, Sky News, CNBC and Reuters. As a lead presenter on the BBC World’s World Business Report he has covered diverse subjects ranging from the credit crunch, the collapse of Lehman’s, special reports on black empowerment in South Africa, trade negotiations at the WTO, the dot.com boom, the collapse of Enron and the rise of the Chinese and Indian economies. Jamie has interviewed extensively on macro and micro-economic subjects, handling live discussions with CEOs, CFOs, economists, analysts, lobbyists and politicians. His areas of expertise include the Energy and Pharmaceutical industries, where he has produced special reports on the dwindling product pipelines in the drugs sector, generic competition and health scares; in energy he has covered the race for new oil supply and the environment. Jamie has a degree in English language and literature from Oxford University.
Award-winning former journalist Emma Robson has 25 years’ experience of working in media and communications. She trained as a journalist at Reuters and worked also for Knight-Ridder, the UN Development Programme, BBC radio and television, and Bloomberg. Since founding Media Wise in 1999, Emma has focused on helping companies and their executives to craft and pitch stories that impress and delight. As a moderator, Emma takes a probing, journalistic approach and is sure to keep the discussions lively and relevant. A native English speaker, Emma is fluent in Dutch, French, Italian and Spanish. Recent events she has moderated include the 2010 Arcadis Senior Management conference in Rotterdam,a European Association of Urology forum in Baracelona and the 2010 Océ Stakeholder Dialogue in Amsterdam.
Adrian Finighan is a veteran of global television news, having spent most of his career as presenter and correspondent with CNN and BBC World. Adrian’s warm personality and relaxed ‘on-screen’ style have gained him many fans and as a TV presenter he is recognised all over the world. Adrian is a popular stage performer who has built a reputation as an engaging host and moderator. Recent events he has anchored include the London Media Summit, ITU World ’09 in Geneva, World Low Cost Airlines Congress in Barcelona and Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Adrian began his career as a local radio reporter in South Wales at the time of the miners’ strike of 1984. He graduated first to national radio and then to television at the BBC’s Business & Economics Unit in 1993. In 1996 he moved to BBC World and BBC News 24 as a general news presenter. He joined CNN in January 2006 as an anchor and correspondent, fronting daily editions of World News, CNN Today and Business International. He spent much of 2008/09 covering the global financial crisis.
As a freelance presenter and journalist, Julie MacDonald currently works as a Global News Anchor for Al Jazeera English in London and presents a documentary series on Living TV.
Julie has substantial experience of making and presenting features and programmes in the developing world. She is a current affairs specialist with in-depth knowledge of global affairs, particularly in the Middle East, where she lived for two years.
Her previous credits include roles as a correspondent and presenter with ITV’s London Tonight, the ITV News Channel, BBC’s Liquid News and GMTV.
Julie began her career in twenty-four hour news at ITV’s News Channel and went on to become C5′s Entertainment correspondent – fronting the channel’s flagship Breakfast Show. She has also presented BBC’s Liquid News 24 – shown on BBC 1 & BBC2 and BBC America which included live coverage of awards such as the Berlin Film festival, the Comedy Awards and the Baftas.
From her base in Madrid, Marian travels the world as a media trainer, working for several international agencies and often in the developing world. Marian is 100% Spanish but also speaks and presents in impeccable British English, having worked as a print and broadcast reporter and editor for The Guardian in Britain and 10 years at BBC Radio News. She has also reported for the UK TV station Channel 4 and El Mundo in Spain. Marian holds an MA in journalism from City University, London and two BAs in English language and literature and interpreting and translation from Granada University. Multimedia journalist Wolfgang Karg has focused on business, science and technology during much of his career. Born in Germany and educated in the US, Switzerland and Germany, Wolfgang has worked in Germany for the public television stations ARD, BR and SWR, in France as producer and commentator for EuroNews in Lyon, and internationally for various regional and national German stations such as Sat 1. and Deutsche Welle TV. Wolfgang currently works independently as a multimedia trainer, moderator and producer for television and internet. Among the debates he has moderated, one brought together five former Nobel prize winners in Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Wolfgang holds a graduate degree in German literature, journalism and political science from the University of South Carolina (USA). He is fluent in English and a native German speaker.
